Rostelecom provides its subscribers with various equipment for rent, including routers. The company is not engaged in the production of equipment, but in world practice a scheme is widely used in which the manufacturer supplies the provider with equipment without a logo, and the provider already applies his own. Rostelecom does the same (it cooperates with huawei, zte, eltex, sagemcom, etc.), which means that customers may have different models. In this article, we will look at universal ways gaining access to the router settings.

How to enter the router settings

So, you got a router for rent or bought it, came home and want to set up the Internet or make any other settings (for example). To do this, you need to open the package, connect power and cable to the router, but not the one that comes to your apartment from the entrance, but which will connect the router to a computer or laptop. Connect the other end of the cable to your turned on computer. For most router models, the admin panel is available at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 . Type one of these into your browser's address bar and press enter.

After that, you should see a window for entering a username and password.

The login and password for entering are indicated in the operating instructions for the router, but if you could not find such information there, then try the following combinations:

  • login - admin, password - empty
  • login - admin, password - admin
  • login - admin, password - password
  • login - admin, password - 1234

If one of the combinations is suitable, then a page with available router settings will open in front of you.

If these options do not work, then you need to perform a factory reset. To do this, find the Reset button on the back wall and hold it down for a few seconds with the router turned on.

Basic settings of the Rostelecom router

The first tab of the router settings displays a summary of the current state of the device. Here we do not make any settings.

On the second tab, the Internet connection is configured. Select the interface you need (in our case, PPPoE/VPN) and click on the "add connection" button.

In the window that opens, you need to select a protocol, come up with a name for the connection, enter a username and password for accessing the Internet ( this information should be in your contract), as well as the server address. Leave the rest of the items in the "auto" state.

If you have several computers at home, then on the next tab you can assign each device its own ip address on your home network.

The next tab is responsible for setting up Wi-Fi. Here you need to set the name of your network, select the type of encryption and come up with a password.

The manufacturer regularly releases firmware updates in which it fixes errors found by users and adds new functionality to the device. That is why it is worth checking regularly for available updates. Go to the settings tab and find the "update" item there. The screen will display the version current firmware and available for updating. All that is required of you is to click on the "install" button.

As you can see, with minimal knowledge, you can produce self-configuration router without calling a company specialist. Ask questions in the comments and we will help you, but for now we recommend watching a video on this topic.

A router is a network equipment that allows multiple devices to access the Internet at the same time (computers, tablets, smartphones, and much more). Today's range of routers allows you to choose exactly what is most suitable in a particular case.

Overview of routers

There are several models that are optimal for home use:

  • ZTE E5501;
  • Zte H118N;
  • ZTE E5502;
  • Zte ZXA10 f660.

ZTE E5501

This device supports multiple interfaces:

  • 4 ports for an RJ-45 connector (which allows you to work with data through a network interface, the cable type is detected automatically);
  • works according to the 802.11n communication standard (frequency 2.4 GHz);
  • There are two non-removable antennas that ensure stable Wi-Fi operation.

In addition to supported interfaces this device It has many other options that make it quite convenient and easy to use.

Zte H118N

A router of this type in its design has:

  • USBv.2 in the amount of 1 piece for connecting a 3G modem (optional);
  • 4 ports for connecting a cable crimped with an RJ-45 connector;
  • WiFi (IEEE 802.11n).

The maximum data transfer rate of this device is 300 Mbps. It also supports several data encryption technologies - WEP, WPA, WPA2.

Zte 5502

The considered router from such an eminent company is in no way inferior to its classmates:

  • 4 ports for cable connection via RG-45 connector;
  • supported: IEEE 802.11n (maximum transmission rate - 300 Mbps);
  • there are two antennas for operation in the 2.4 GHz band;

The encryption capabilities of the device in question are the widest:

  • WEP with 64/128 bit encryption technology;
  • WPA-PSK;
  • WPA2-Interprise and many others.

ZteZXA 10 F660

The ZTE router has not only excellent performance, but also a relatively low price.

It is easy to set up and also supports all the necessary technologies:

  • there are 4 connectors for RG-45;
  • 2 connectors for working with POTS interface (RG-11);
  • successfully works with Wi-Fi technology;
  • There is a connector for connecting USB devices.

Choose a device

When choosing a router for your home, you need to consider the following important points:

  • ease of setup - so that in case of any problems you can fix them without calling a specialist;
  • price - this issue is especially relevant for families with many children;
  • reliability;
  • features of the Wi-Fi module.

The simpler the design of the device, the easier it is to configure. That is why you should give your preference to those routers that do not require dancing with tambourines during connection and start work. This will save a large number of time.

Price range is very important point . Today it makes no sense to purchase expensive devices. Since even the youngest models in the line have everything on board that is required for comfortable work with a Wi-Fi network at home. You should not overpay for a model brand - usually such expenses are completely unjustified.

Choosing the best option for the price, you should not buy very cheap models. Since often behind the extremely low price is not the most high quality manufacturing, which may soon lead to a breakdown.

The Wi-Fi module must necessarily have an antenna located outside the case. Since antennas of this type have a large area. Which is very important if the apartment or house has a large footage. Also, the antenna should be removed and replaced if necessary - as an extension of the coverage area may be necessary.

The best choice in all respects is the ZTE ZXA10 F660 router. It has many advantages, as well as a fairly low price (considering the rather good parameters).

PC connection

The most simple part ZTE router settings - connecting it to a PC. This operation is performed in the following order:

Settings management

How to set up a ZTE Wi-Fi router? The settings are managed using the WEB-interface, which can be accessed through any browser installed on the PC. For example, internet explorer. In the address bar, enter the following combination of numbers and symbols - http://192.168.1.1. If the router is connected to the computer according to the instructions, a window will appear in which you can enter your login and password.

By default, the password and login is the word admin (only in Latin letters). When the fields are filled, you should click the "Login" button. Next, a window will appear, made in green and white colors.

The top has the following tabs:

  • status;
  • network;
  • security;
  • application;
  • administration.

Each tab allows you to manage a particular section.

To set up Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

This list of actions enabled Wi-Fi.

Special attention should be paid to the section called "Multi-SSID".

Optionally, this section allows you to make the network both open and closed for various types of devices:

  • SSIDName - this item allows you to name the configured network by any name;
  • MaximumClients - the maximum possible number of simultaneously connected devices (this model supports 32 pcs.);
  • EnableSSID - enable or disable the network being changed;
  • HideSSID - hide wireless network;
  • ChooseSSID - select a Wi-Fi network to change.

There is also a Security section in which you can configure the following items:

When choosing a password, it is advisable to follow the following recommendations:

  • the presence of lowercase and uppercase letters (in random order);
  • password length must be at least 10 characters;
  • the presence of numbers is also desirable.

Setting up a ZTE router for providers

The ZTE ZXA10 F660 router is configured differently, depending on which provider is the Internet service provider (MGTS, Rostelecom, Ukrtelecom).

Ukrtelecom

Setting up work with this operator requires special care, since all the nuances should be taken into account:

In the “Multi-SSIDSettings” and “Security” sections, all settings are set according to the instructions that came with the device.

Particular attention should be paid to the "AccessControlList" section. The "Mode" item must be set to "Block". "MACAddress" - 00:13:e0:81:97:ee.

Rostelecom

Setting up a router to work with the Rostelecom provider is not difficult.

You need to do the following:

When the above steps are completed, you should configure the "Multi-SSIDSettings" section:

  • in the "ChooseSSID" item, set the value of the SSID;
  • check the box next to "EnableSSID";
  • "SSIDName" allows you to select a network name.

After completing all the settings, you must click the "Submit" button.

MGTS

To correctly configure the considered model of the router with the MGTS rights provider, you must perform the following steps in strict order:

This will enable Wi-Fi. The remaining settings are performed in accordance with the manual that came with the router.

It is also mandatory to configure a section called Multi-SSID. This section allows you to set a personal identifier for the network, as well as optionally hide it. All settings are performed individually, depending on the personal preferences of the user.

The section called "Security" allows you to configure the encryption settings and password for connecting to the network.

The ZTEZxa10 F660 router is the best device in terms of price-quality ratio. An excellent choice for home and office. This network equipment is easy to configure, compact, reliable.

To configure any of the ZTE line of routers, it is first recommended to prepare Rostelecom's Internet connection authorization data, since it will not be possible to activate the network without them. In most cases, the provider uses PPPoE type connection to services. These parameters are used to establish communication using ADSL and Ethernet technology. There are also less common options for connecting services that can be used when conducting fiber optic cable directly to the apartment or private house of the client.

Configuring Rostelecom parameters for ZTE brand routers

ZTE is one of the largest companies in the global electronics market. In addition to the manufacturer's smartphones, which have recently gained immense popularity, which have a lower cost than similar products from the LG and Samsung brands, but are not inferior to them in terms of characteristics and quality, the company also occupies a strong position in the field of network equipment.

ZTE provides its customers with a wide range of devices to create a home or corporate network. For users who need the Internet outside the city, where it is not possible to create a wired connection, the manufacturer offers ZTE modems MF 190, distributed both with native (factory firmware) and with an already built-in modification from Rostelecom.

These can connect directly to a computer or with the help of routers that support the appropriate connector and technology.

Attention! Ability to reflash ZTE MF 190 modems from Rostelecom or other operators official methods absent. For such tasks, the Dc-Unlocker program is usually used.

Also in the line of network equipment, ZTE also has routers, for example, the H108N, adopted by users as an Ethernet modem for Rostelecom to set up high-speed home and work networks.

Preparing to set up the equipment

Before setting up ZTE routers under Rostelecom, for example, the E5501 model, you need to check the equipment package, which contains:

  • power supply (12V converter);
  • at least one Ethernet cable.

Of course, in the newly unpacked box from the device there will also be a software disk, a warranty and a lot of literature, but these components do not play an important role in setting up a ZTE modem under Rostelecom.

Attention! Even if you want to use the Internet only via Wi-Fi, an Ethernet cable is in any case an indispensable component that is needed for initial setup.

To connect the device, the first thing you need to familiarize yourself with is the ports on the rear panel.

Having deployed the ZTE E5501 side with functional connectors, as on the ZXV10 W300, here you can find:

  • four LAN ports;
  • Ethernet port;
  • connector for the power cable.

The ZTE H108N model will have one difference from the above modems, namely a connector for an ADSL cable (telephone cable), since this router is designed for Internet via telephone line. This will not significantly affect the overall sequence of connecting network equipment. First of all, we connect the power supply to the socket and the port on the router, and then we insert the Internet cable into the WAN or ADSL port (depending on the modem model, one of these ports will be present). Now we find the RJ45 connector on the computer (standard network input) and connect it using an Ethernet cable to the corresponding port on the router. Since in our case there are four connectors, you can connect the cord to any.

Attention! If the ZTE H108N is configured, then in addition to the described sequence, it is also recommended to connect a splitter that filters the Internet and network signals. This will allow you to use two provider services at the same time.

When all the cords are connected, it will be possible to turn on the equipment, which is done using the button on the rear panel.

Now let's move on to the front of the device. It contains indicators that will help you find out about the status of options when setting up ZTE ZXV10 W300, H108N or E5501 modems for Rostelecom. For example, here is information about:

  • in which of the connectors is the computer connected;
  • is Wi-Fi working;
  • whether there is a connection to the provider and the Internet.

Setting up an Internet connection on ZTE ZXV10 W300, ZTE H108N, ZTE E5501

When the connection part is completed, you can proceed to setting up modems for Rostelecom, which we will do using the ZTE ZXV10 W300 as an example. We go from a computer connected directly to the modem to the browser and write the router's IP address in the address bar. You can find it in the equipment passport. In our case, it will be 192.168.1.1. Now we enter the standard login and password, which are also indicated in the instructions for the modem (admin / admin).

After that, you will be redirected to the control panel software devices. In the Network tab, select the WAN parameters and configure PPPoE connections according to the data provided by the provider. They can be found in the contract or on a special Rostelecom card.

Since the equipment supports Wi-Fi parameters and such a modem is usually bought with the intention of connecting to the network wireless devices, you can configure the module operation on the Wireless tab. Here we select the network name (SSID), and also create a security key that will prevent unauthorized clients from connecting to your wireless network.

From ZTE, depending on its type (portable or stationary), it is produced in several stages. In the case of installing routers for private apartments or small offices, a suitable place is first selected, then the connection is made, and after that the connection parameters are entered.
